Erdogan's Plan to Freeze the War in Ukraine is a Signal for Trump - Expert.
Erdogan Proposes to Stop the War in Ukraine
The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, intends to offer his option to stop the war in Ukraine. This will serve as a signal for the new President of the USA, Donald Trump.
This was stated by the head of the Center for Applied Political Research 'Penta', Vladimir Fesenko, in a comment to the YouTube channel RBC-Ukraine.
According to Fesenko, among the political leaders, the 'parading' of peace plans regarding Ukraine has already begun. The first results of this can be seen at the G20 summit in Brazil.
'Most likely, this will be discussed publicly, there will be conversations with Lavrov about how ready Russia is to stop the war,' Fesenko stated.
He also believes that the plan of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is a kind of signal for Donald Trump.
'Especially concerning Erdogan and his plan - it seems like it is being picked up by the Americans and Trump. The content of his statement closely resembles ideas that have already been expressed by Trump's team. For example, Trump talks about a 20-year moratorium on Ukraine's NATO membership, while Erdogan talks about 10 years. Furthermore, there is a demilitarized zone - this is also classic for ending wars, a ceasefire along the front line. But Erdogan also has specific ideas,' Fesenko noted.
Fesenko believes that Erdogan's plan is quite specific and may be taken into account by other partners.
'This plan of Erdogan is a signal for Trump. He says: I am also for peace, ready to help. For instance, in 2022 I can provide a platform for negotiations and become a mediator. But there will be a problem and a challenge for the Americans - are they ready to directly participate in the negotiations? They may initiate them, but how ready are they to participate in the current negotiations, we do not know,' Fesenko stated.
