The Battle in Kursk. Let's Remember Viktor Zhmur.
Every day at 9 AM, Ukrainians honor the memory of all whose lives were taken by the Russo-Ukrainian war. Today, we remember Viktor Zhmur.
On December 15, 2024, true to his military oath of loyalty to the Ukrainian people, he bravely fulfilled his military duty and died in battle in the Kursk region. This was reported by the Rivne City Council.
Viktor Zhmur was born on August 23, 1981, in Rivne. He graduated from Rivne Gymnasium No. 5, and then mastered the profession of a gas welder at VPU No. 38 in Rivne.
When the young man turned 20, he left his homeland to work abroad. He only returned in 2020. He settled with his aunt in a village, helping with the household, doing various jobs that were always available.
Exceptionally sincere and kind, Viktor could easily find common ground with anyone. Calm and balanced, he never refused to help anyone.

In June 2024, Viktor was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As part of his unit, he participated in the operations of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in the Donetsk region, and then in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.

Farewell to the Hero
The farewell to the defender took place on December 24 in Independence Square in Rivne. The requiem service was held at the Holy Protection Cathedral. The defender was buried at the 'Nove' cemetery.
'Glavkom' joins the moment of silence. We honor the memory of all Ukrainians who died in the fight for their homeland. We remember those who fell at the hands of Russian invaders, lighting candles of memory and bowing our heads in grief during the nationwide moment of silence, honoring the bright memory of citizens of Ukraine who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the state: all military personnel, civilians, and children, all who died in the struggle against Russian occupiers and as a result of the attacks by hostile armies on Ukrainian cities and villages.
