'Warm Soup for Kyiv' Campaign
According to TSN.ua: A Polish business initiative is delivering thousands of liters of hot soup to Kyiv to support residents facing severe winter conditions and heating disruptions. The campaign, 'Warm Soup for Kyiv,' was announced by Bartłomiej Szczotarz, owner of the Tawerna La Capitana restaurant. Approximately one thousand liters of the hot meal will be transported to the Ukrainian capital, aiming to provide warmth and sustenance to those in need. This effort highlights the ongoing humanitarian challenges in Ukraine following Russia's invasion.
Campaign Details
The soup distribution is scheduled for Monday, February 2nd, and will feature traditional Polish żurek soup. This initiative follows a recent major disruption to Kyiv's public transport system on January 31st, which saw the temporary suspension of train service on all three lines of the city's metro, severely hindering civilian movement.
It is noteworthy that Bartłomiej Szczotarz, the project's initiator, has both Polish and Ukrainian heritage. As he stated:
'Having both Polish and Ukrainian roots, it pains me to see the current tensions in relations.' - Bartłomiej Szczotarz
This campaign is designed not only to provide food but also to express support and solidarity between peoples during difficult times. The 'Warm Soup for Kyiv' action serves as a powerful example of cross-border support during a harsh winter period, when many Ukrainians are grappling with extreme weather and infrastructure challenges. It underscores the vital importance of international solidarity, particularly given the ongoing conflict. Bartłomiej Szczotarz's initiative demonstrates how personal connections and shared cultural heritage can inspire collective action for the public good.
