The Death of a Defender of Ukraine
On August 24, Ukraine's Independence Day, defender Mykola Chornovolik passed away in the hospital from a serious illness. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing the Kostopil City Council.
The Life Path of Mykola Chornovolik
Mykola Chornovolik was born on September 16, 1973, in the village of Vyrka in the Sarny district. After finishing local school, he entered Kuznetsovsk vocational technical school, where he obtained a welder’s qualification. After his studies, he worked at the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant. In 1994, Mykola married and moved to Huta in the Kostopil district, where his wife is from.
The man worked various jobs, primarily in construction in Kyiv. The couple has two children - a daughter and a son.
Military Service and Illness
In March 2023, Mykola was mobilized for military service, where he served as an electrician for the radio interference station in the military unit in Kostopol. After a year of service, he was diagnosed with a serious illness in 2024. Despite treatment, Mykola returned to service each time.
Son at the Front
Mykola's son, Roman Chornovolik, is also fighting on the Donetsk front. Before returning home to his sick father, he was injured in the leg, which he brought home. Unfortunately, on August 24, Mykola Chornovolik passed away in the hospital.
Mykola Chornovolik was a devoted defender of Ukraine who died from a severe illness after service. He left behind a wife and children, and his son, who is also participating in combat actions, is struggling with the consequences of his injury. Mykola's story is a testament not only to personal bravery but also to the indomitable strength that currently unites many Ukrainian families during this difficult time.
