A new control system for tax inspections using body cameras is being implemented in Ukraine

A new control system for tax inspections using body cameras is being implemented in Ukraine, said the head of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on finance, tax, and customs policy, Danilo Hetmantsev.

According to Hetmantsev, in addition to cameras, tax officials will be provided with tablets and portable printers.

This will eliminate abuses by tax officials as well as attempts to 'resolve' matters by unscrupulous taxpayers. Additionally, the recording will resolve any disputes regarding the quality of inspections - explained Danilo Hetmantsev.

Hetmantsev also expressed hope that this would become an effective anti-corruption measure.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed law No. 9319, which corrects the provision regarding tax increases for individual entrepreneurs. The new rates will not take effect from October 1, 2024, but from January 1, 2025. The tax increase deadline for legal entities working under the simplified taxation system of the third group has also been postponed.

At the beginning of the year, 254,288 individual entrepreneurs ceased their activities in Ukraine. After the law on tax increases was signed, 22.5 thousand entrepreneurs closed their businesses. Some entrepreneurs consider the new taxes unfair.

Later, the head of the Verkhovna Rada's committee on finance, tax, and customs policy, Danilo Hetmantsev, stated that the number of newly created individual entrepreneurs in 2024 exceeds the number of closed ones by 92 thousand. According to him, as of December 1, there were 2 million 76 thousand individual entrepreneurs in Ukraine, of which 272.9 thousand registered this year. Compared to last year, this number increased by 83.6 thousand.

Moreover, in the last two months, the number of newly created individual entrepreneurs increased by 7 thousand, compared to those that ceased operations - 47.7 thousand against 40.7 thousand.

On November 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the tax increase law, which came into effect on December 1.
