Financial Aid Program for Shostka Community Residents

According to Novyny.live: On March 19, 2026, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) will begin accepting applications for a one-time financial aid payment of 10,800 Ukrainian hryvnias. This support targets individuals in the Shostka community of Sumy Oblast who have suffered due to the ongoing war. The program is designed to assist refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) currently living within the Shostka community.

Eligible applicants include those who fled dangerous areas within the last six months or have returned to their former place of residence, provided they hold official IDP status. Each household member can receive 3,600 UAH per month for three months, totaling 10,800 UAH. Importantly, individuals who have already received similar assistance from other organizations within the past three months are not eligible for this program.

Program Participation Requirements

To qualify, a household's monthly income must not exceed 6,300 UAH per person. Priority is given to vulnerable groups, including:

  • single parents;
  • individuals over 55 years old;
  • families with children;
  • persons with disabilities.

Special consideration is also given to households consisting solely of a single father or mother raising minor children, or those where all members are elderly (55 or older) or have disabilities.

Residents of the village of Voronizh within the Shostka territorial community can submit applications by calling 063 182 68 38. In-person applications are accepted at 4 Kyivska Street, with operating hours from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM. This initiative aims to ease the financial burden on those affected by the war, providing crucial support during difficult times.

The launch of this UNHCR financial aid program marks a significant step in supporting war-affected residents. By targeting vulnerable groups, the organization demonstrates its commitment to ensuring resources are used efficiently and reach those most in need.

This initiative has the potential to significantly improve the financial situation of many families who have endured hardships as a result of the conflict.
