A Ukrainian citizen who has been in emigration and turned 17 years old is obliged to register for military service upon returning to their homeland. This topic has been specifically addressed by attorney Vyacheslav Kirdia. The teenager's mother consulted lawyers to find out whether her son, who is planning to come to Ukraine for a certain period, needs to register for military service and whether he can leave the country due to his age of 17. The answer was unequivocal: the boy must register for military service, and leaving the country is theoretically possible, but it would be better to be exempted from this obligation. Therefore, Ukrainians returning to their homeland and who have reached 17 years old should report for military service registration. This obligation does not restrict their rights to cross the border of the country, but it is recommended to fulfill military obligations in a timely manner.
