An air raid alert was declared in the capital at 8:12 a.m., with the all-clear given just seven minutes later at 8:19 a.m. These attacks are part of a sustained Russian campaign targeting Ukrainian cities.
In response to the situation, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko urged residents to take shelter:
'Air defense forces are engaging hostile UAVs in the capital. Please remain in shelters.' - Vitali Klitschko
This incident follows another attack the previous day, on January 15, when debris from a downed Russian drone struck an apartment building in Kyiv's Solomianskyi district, highlighting the persistent danger to civilians.
The Drone Threat
The event underscores the constant threat drones pose to civilian infrastructure and the critical role of air defense systems amid ongoing Russian aggression.
