Kyiv Air Raid: Air Defense Systems Target Enemy Drones

According to Novyny.live: Explosions were heard in Kyiv on January 16 following an attack by Russian drones. Ukrainian air defense forces were activated to intercept the threat. An air raid alert was declared in the capital at 8:12 a.m., with the all-clear given just seven minutes later at 8:19 a.m. These attacks are part of a sustained Russian campaign targeting Ukrainian cities.

In response to the situation, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko urged residents to take shelter:

This incident follows another attack the previous day, on January 15, when debris from a downed Russian drone struck an apartment building in Kyiv's Solomianskyi district, highlighting the persistent danger to civilians.

The Drone Threat

The event underscores the constant threat drones pose to civilian infrastructure and the critical role of air defense systems amid ongoing Russian aggression. Kyiv authorities continue to actively advise residents to follow safety protocols and seek shelter during air raid alerts, a reflection of the serious and ongoing nature of the threat.
