Air defense must save lives, not gather dust in warehouses – President's address.

The rescue operation continues in Zaporizhzhia following a missile strike by Russian forces on urban infrastructure. As a result of this attack, 18 people were injured and are receiving necessary assistance. Unfortunately, there are fatalities. This was reported by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

The President expressed his condolences to the relatives of the deceased and injured.

Zelensky emphasized that he met with the Chief of the General Staff regarding how to improve the safety of our cities.

'We are discussing with all partners the issue of additional air defense systems. We do not have enough of these systems to protect our country from Russian missiles. However, our partners do have these systems. We continue to talk about the fact that the air defense system must save lives, not gather dust in warehouses. This month, we plan to hold meetings and negotiations to do as much as possible,' the head of state emphasized.

Zelensky also mentioned that he had a conversation with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, during which they agreed on joint work in the upcoming weeks and also next year when Poland will hold the presidency in the European Union.

'Today I also spoke with NATO Secretary General Rutte. We discussed communication with our partners and how to quickly address issues related to collective security throughout Europe. We need strong guarantees and effective cooperation. Today, I also met with a delegation from the European Parliament - I am grateful to all for their support,' the President added.

President Volodymyr Zelensky, during the ceremony of presenting the National Award named after Boris Paton, emphasized the contribution of science to the country's defense capability. He also reported on the successful testing of the new missile 'Ruta'.

'The missile 'Palianytsia' is already being produced in series. The missile-carrying drone 'Hell' has successfully passed its first combat tests. Recently, we handed over the first batch of these drones to our Armed Forces. Successful testing of the new missile 'Ruta' continues,' Zelensky stated in his speech.

The President promises that the long-range missile 'Neptune' will soon become a reality for the invaders.
