Ukrainian Public Sector Workers Eligible for a Lump Sum of Ten Monthly Pensions.
Lump Sum Payment for Public Sector Employees
According to TSN.ua: Under Ukraine's 'Law on Mandatory State Pension Insurance', certain public sector employees retiring due to age are entitled to a one-time payment equivalent to ten months of pension benefits. This substantial financial support is available to those who meet specific eligibility criteria. This policy is part of Ukraine's social safety net for its long-serving civil servants.
To qualify, an individual must not be receiving any other form of pension. The required insurance record is 35 years for men and 30 years for women. The list of qualifying positions is defined by Cabinet of Ministers Decree No. 909, dated November 4, 1993.
Eligible Worker Categories
The following public sector professionals are among those who may claim this benefit:
- Education sector employees,
- Healthcare workers,
- Social protection staff,
- Cultural workers,
- Elite athletes, including Honored Masters of Sport and Masters of Sport of International Class.
This initiative aims to support individuals who have dedicated many years to public service, providing them with significant financial assistance as they conclude their professional careers. Such programs are common in many countries to recognize long-term public service.
The lump sum payment is a crucial social protection tool designed to offer financial support to retiring public sector workers. By improving the material well-being of those who have worked for the public good for decades, the program also seeks to make public sector careers in fields like education and healthcare more attractive to younger generations. Expanding such initiatives could positively impact living standards in Ukraine and strengthen public confidence in the social security system.
