Mass protests took place in the city of Sukhumi, the capital of Abkhazia, during which citizens stormed the parliament building and expressed their dissatisfaction with the ratification of an investment agreement with Russia. According to media reports, protesters managed to breach the building's territory but were dispersed by security forces using tear gas, resulting in injuries to nine individuals.

Participants in the rally demand the resignation of President Aslan Bzhania, who is currently not in the administrative building. During the protests, a plaque bearing his name was removed and thrown away. The president's administration promises to withdraw the bill on ratification of the agreement while the protests continue.

Political scientist Vadim Denisov points to a possible connection between the events and the internal political struggle in Russia, particularly between Surkov and Kozak, assistants to Putin.
