Putin will not stop: Kaja Kallas emphasized the critical need to support Ukraine.
The EU's chief diplomat Kaja Kallas made a principled statement regarding the enhancement of military support for Ukraine during the first meeting of foreign ministers.
At the press conference, she emphasized that Ukraine critically needs assistance on the battlefield, which has a direct impact on its negotiating positions.
Kallas stressed the strategic importance of military aid, stating that the stronger Ukraine is on the front, the more effective its negotiating capabilities will be. 'Ukraine needs our support not only to hold its ground but also to win this war,' the diplomat said.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha emphasized the need for increased ammunition, strengthening air defense systems, and supporting the domestic defense industry during the meeting. Kallas supported this position, stating: 'We must provide Ukraine with everything it needs to win this war.'
The head of European diplomacy also highlighted the characteristics of Russian aggression. She noted that Vladimir Putin will not cease his actions without strong external pressure, referencing the example of the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria as evidence of the weakness of the Russian position.
The European Union is demonstrating practical support. By the end of this winter season, training is planned for 75,000 Ukrainian servicemen. Additionally, EU countries have provided Ukraine with 4.2 billion in budget support, and starting in January, they will provide assistance of 1.5 billion each month.
In the context of these events, other diplomatic signals are emerging. According to NBC News, the team of elected US President Donald Trump is negotiating with Ukrainian officials to find ways to end the conflict.
At the same Time, The Wall Street Journal indicated possible changes in President Volodymyr Zelensky's rhetoric regarding peace negotiations if he receives an invitation to NATO.
