Russian President Vladimir Putin is not idle, as he had a phone conversation on August 8 with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. This call took place before the expected meeting between Putin and American President Donald Trump.
The conversation between Putin and Xi Jinping
During the conversation, Putin and Xi Jinping discussed the situation in Ukraine. Xi Jinping supported a peaceful dialogue and stated that China would facilitate the negotiations. Moreover, Beijing expressed support for further dialogue between Russia and the USA.
The heads of state also discussed supporting the development of bilateral relations and cooperation in preparation for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.
It is worth noting that earlier Donald Trump stated a new condition for the meeting with Putin. This is only possible if the Kremlin chief agrees to meet with Zelensky.
At the same time, according to the US president, Putin does not need to consult with the Ukrainian leader before meeting with him. However, the meeting is already inevitable.
