Putin's sign instead of a number? Social media outraged by the memorial to fallen heroes in Ternopil.
Criticism of the memorial in Ternopil
Ukrainian journalist Daria Hirna expressed her outrage at the memorial established for the defenders of Ukraine in Ternopil. She believes that the structure lacks artistic value. She published this statement on social media. The journalist also questioned even the name of the structure, which is a memorial. She believes that such memory objects should be created with the participation of architects through open competitions. Thus, in her opinion, the war heroes will be honored properly, and their names will remain in the memory of future generations.
«In my opinion, this is just mockery of memory. It guarantees that in a couple of generations, no one will want to stop there and read these important names», - noted Daria Garna.
The updated memorial «To the Warriors who died for the freedom of Ukraine», opened in Taras Shevchenko Park in Ternopil, was dedicated to the defenders who fought for Ukraine's independence during the Russian-Ukrainian war. It is worth noting that the mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi, called for architectural competitions to establish memory memorials to the Heroes at both the municipal and state levels. He emphasized that the main goal of establishing memorial objects is to preserve the memory of the heroes' feats for future generations.
