Attacks on Strategic Objects in Russia

Throughout January 2025, there were attacks in the Russian Federation against more than 25 important strategic objects that are significant for the country's military sector. This was reported by the head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, Andriy Kovalenko.

«In January, over 25 strategic objects were attacked on the territory of the Russian Federation, including oil depots, oil refineries, and factories that are important for defense», – Kovalenko reported.

It is worth reminding that on the night of January 30, the Bryansk region of Russia was attacked by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The main target of their attack was a distribution station of the Druzhba oil pipeline near the city of Novozibkov.

The «Novozibkov» station is an integral part of the Druzhba pipeline, which transports oil from Russia to European countries. This section in Bryansk Oblast is the last station before the border with Ukraine.

The «Druzhba» pipeline plays an important role in supplying oil to Belarusian oil refineries and in transit to Europe. This pipeline transports over 33 million tons of oil annually.

Additionally, in the Volgograd region, Ukrainian drones attacked one of the largest oil refineries, which produces gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, and aviation fuel.

Also, in the city of Kstovo in the Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia, an explosion occurred as a result of a drone attack on the night of January 29. The oil refinery was damaged, and a fire broke out there.

Another nighttime drone attack occurred in the Ryazan region on January 25, 2025. The Ryazan oil refinery, one of the largest in Russia, where more than 17 million tons of oil are processed annually, was attacked.
