Massive Strikes Hit Ukrainian Cities

According to TSN.ua: On the night of March 24, 2023, Russia unleashed an unprecedented wave of drone attacks across Ukraine, targeting civilian infrastructure and causing casualties. In Zaporizhzhia, one person was killed and five others wounded. In Dnipro, a Russian drone struck an apartment building, leaving 13 people injured.

Attacks Spread to Other Regions

The assault also hit Kyiv and its surrounding region on March 24, 2023. In the Ivano-Frankivsk area, a National Guard member and a child lost their lives due to shelling. A man was wounded in Khmelnytskyi region. In Ternopil region, active air defense operations led to power outages. A total of 556 attack drones were launched from the north that day, with Ukrainian air defenses destroying 541 of them.

Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Yurii Ihnat commented on the massive attack, stating,

“The enemy is using various types of UAVs, dozens of different types.”
Meanwhile, the National Security and Defense Council emphasized the need to counter Russia's new tactics, which now include not only strikes on civilian sites but also attacks on emergency medical vehicles in frontline areas.

Russian forces are expanding their target geography and selecting new objectives, such as Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi railway station, which remains a priority target. Andrii Kovalenko noted,

“Destroying Russian production capabilities, supply chains, and opportunities should be a priority not just for Ukraine.”
These events signal a shift in Russian military tactics, including daytime strikes using new weapons.

This situation underscores the escalating conflict and the growing risk to Ukrainian civilians. The use of drones has become a key Russian strategy, likely an attempt to adapt to Ukraine's air defense systems. Strengthening protection and coordination among Ukrainian forces is essential to counter these evolving wartime challenges.
