Weather Alert for Ukraine: Sudden Cold Snap on the Horizon
According to TSN.ua: A dramatic shift in weather is expected across Ukraine, with night frosts arriving between March 31 and April 1. In addition, the Chernihiv region faces a risk of flooding as river levels rise. According to forecasters, daytime temperatures on March 25 will still be pleasant, ranging from +12°C to +16°C, but conditions will worsen soon after.
Light rain may occur in the southeastern part of the country, though overall conditions will remain favorable at first. Starting March 26, spring warmth will briefly return, bringing daytime highs of up to +19°C. However, nighttime temperatures over the following three days will fluctuate between +3°C and -2°C, signaling a sharp contrast in weather patterns that Ukrainians will soon experience.

Beyond the cold snap, a yellow danger alert has been issued for the Chernihiv region due to potential flooding. Between March 24 and 25, water levels in the Desna River basin are expected to rise by 1 to 15 cm per day, which could create hazardous conditions in certain areas. The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center warns that “atmospheric pressure will continue to drop, even though our territory remains outside the influence of weather fronts.”
Weather Changes in Major Cities
Major Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Dnipro, and Cherkasy, will also see temperature fluctuations that may disrupt daily life. Residents are advised to prepare for rapid weather shifts and take appropriate precautions to minimize potential negative impacts.
Given these developments, Ukrainians should remain vigilant and cautious, especially in areas with a high risk of flooding. Meteorologists urge everyone to monitor the latest forecasts and follow official recommendations.
These changing weather conditions across Ukraine could significantly affect everyday life, particularly as river levels continue to rise. The anticipated cold snap and night frosts may pose additional challenges for those unprepared for the temperature drop. It is crucial to heed forecasters' advice and stay ready for possible emergencies, especially in flood-prone regions.
