Russia's Massive Assault on Ukraine

According to Novyny.live: Foreign Minister Andrii Sibiha condemned Russia's large-scale attack on Ukraine on the night of February 3, stressing the urgent need to increase pressure on Moscow. The assault occurred during a severe cold snap, with temperatures in Ukraine plummeting below -20°C (-4°F). Russian forces launched the offensive using 450 drones and over 60 missiles, including ballistic types.

Primary Targets of the Attacks

The primary targets of the Russian strikes were energy infrastructure and residential buildings in major cities, including:

  • Kyiv
  • Dnipro
  • Kharkiv
  • Sumy
  • Odesa
  • Other regions

Andrii Sibiha stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin waited for the temperature drop to continue his 'genocidal attacks' against the Ukrainian people. The minister emphasized that no diplomatic efforts, including promises from the United States, have stopped the terror against civilians during this harsh winter period. This attack comes as Ukraine's power grid, already heavily damaged by previous strikes, is under immense strain.

Sibiha also highlighted the necessity of measures to isolate the Russian regime, deprive its war machine of energy revenues, and cut off its access to critical technologies.

'We are dealing with terrorists who must be forced to stop the violence' — Andrii Sibiha.
The minister called for the halt and confiscation of illegal Russian oil tankers, adding that Putin must be stripped of any illusions that he can achieve anything through bombing, terror, and aggression. The international community faces a critical test in responding to these tactics, which aim to break civilian morale by targeting essential services in winter.

This assault occurred at a critical juncture, with Ukraine's energy infrastructure already significantly damaged from prior bombardments, and winter conditions exacerbating the hardship for the civilian population. Minister Sibiha's statements underscore the importance of sustained international support for Ukraine and the need for more decisive global action to halt Russian war crimes.
