Drone Strike in Cherkasy Region Wounds Four and Destroys Homes.
Cherkasy Region Targeted in Overnight Assault
According to TSN.ua: Russian forces launched an attack on Ukraine's Cherkasy region overnight on February 2, deploying combat drones. Preliminary reports indicate at least four local residents sustained shrapnel wounds and are in a state of shock. The Cherkasy region, situated in central Ukraine, has faced repeated attacks as the full-scale invasion continues.
A direct hit on residential buildings triggered a major fire and caused severe structural damage. Emergency crews from the State Emergency Service, medical personnel, and law enforcement responded to the scene, extinguishing the blaze and providing aid to the victims. The buildings struck in the attack suffered catastrophic damage and are now completely destroyed and uninhabitable.
One of the injured victims described the incident: 'I was taken to the hospital immediately. There were shrapnel wounds, and they provided all the necessary help.'
Eyewitnesses also conveyed the scale of the destruction, expressing their grief: 'We have nothing left. The house is essentially gone.' This assault on Cherkasy represents another instance in a pattern of attacks harming civilian populations.
Mounting International Alarm
This event marks a further escalation in the ongoing aggression in Ukraine, directly threatening civilian safety. Strikes on residential areas, resulting in infrastructure damage and civilian casualties, continue to provoke international concern and underscore the urgent need for a resolution to the conflict. As military actions persist, providing immediate assistance to victims and planning for reconstruction remains critical.
