Civilian Food Plant in Kharkiv Hit by Russian Drone Strike, Killing Two.
Drone Attack Targets Kharkiv Civilian Facility
According to UATV: On March 11, Russian forces launched a drone strike against a civilian enterprise in Kharkiv at 8 a.m., killing two men and leaving seven others with severe injuries. The attack was carried out using a 'Geran-2' (Geranium-2) drone. This incident is part of a wider pattern of attacks on non-military infrastructure that has characterized the conflict.
The targeted facility was a food industry plant. According to Oleg Synegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, this was a purely civilian enterprise with no connection to military infrastructure. He emphasized that there are no military facilities nearby, underscoring the indiscriminate nature of the attack.
Mass Drone Assault Overnight
The strike occurred amid a large-scale drone offensive. On the night leading into March 11, Ukrainian defenses reported tracking 99 hostile drones, highlighting the occupiers' massive use of unmanned aerial vehicles. This tactic has caused widespread alarm among local residents and demonstrates the persistent threat to civilian areas.
The attack on the Kharkiv plant underscores the severe dangers faced by Ukrainian civilians. The use of drones to strike non-military targets is a violation of international humanitarian law, which protects civilians during conflicts. Such actions have drawn condemnation from the international community and may lead to increased pressure on Russian military operations.
