Kharkiv Residential Building Struck by Russian Kamikaze Drone, Injuring Seven.
Kharkiv Targeted in Drone Strike
According to UATV: On February 3, Russian forces launched another attack on the city of Kharkiv, deploying a 'Geran-2' type unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in a kamikaze strike. The assault ignited a fire in a five-story residential building, resulting in injuries to seven people. This attack is part of a broader pattern of strikes on Ukraine's second-largest city, which lies close to the Russian border.
The incident occurred in the Saltivskyi district of the city. According to rescue services, the explosion caused fires in apartments from the third to the fifth floors, and partially on a second-floor balcony. Sixty-five rescue workers responded immediately to the scene, utilizing 16 pieces of equipment to manage the aftermath of the attack.
Commenting on the situation, a representative of the rescue services, Oleg Synehubov, stated: 'Our first priority is to extinguish the fire. Simultaneously, search and rescue operations are ongoing.'
In a separate statement, deputy Spartak Borysenko confirmed that Russian troops had targeted a residential neighborhood in Kharkiv, underscoring the gravity of the situation for civilians.
Humanitarian Impact of the Assault
This strike forms part of the ongoing military actions in Ukraine, which continue to inflict damage on civilian populations and infrastructure. While emergency services respond swiftly to such crises, these incidents highlight the persistent dangers faced by non-combatants in conflict zones. The international community has repeatedly condemned attacks on residential areas, which violate the laws of war.
Such shelling of residential districts creates severe humanitarian issues and demands continued international attention and support.
