Russia attacked Kyiv with drones: what is happening in the capital
According to Novyny.live: On January 14, 2023, explosions occurred in Kyiv as a result of an attack by Russian invaders who used drones. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that anti-aircraft defense forces are working to protect the capital.
A drone hit a 16-storey residential building in Obolon. However, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachенко, noted that the fire in the Obolon district is not related to the attack by unmanned aerial vehicles. Vitali Klitschko urged residents to stay in shelters, stating:
'The air defense is working in the Osokorky area. The enemy's attack on Kyiv continues.' Vitali Klitschko
The situation in the capital remains tense, and local residents continue to observe safety measures.
The attack on Kyiv is part of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which has been ongoing since 2014 but has particularly escalated since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022. The use of drones indicates a change in the tactics of Russian troops, as well as an attempt to increase pressure on the Ukrainian capital. In response to these threats, the Ukrainian authorities continue to improve the air defense system and urge the population to adhere to safety measures during air alerts.
