Russia has concentrated over 100,000 troops near Pokrovsk: the main goal of winter

According to inkorr.com: The President of Russia Vladimir Putin allegedly demands the transfer of the region to stop the war. As reported by Glavkom, the commander of the 1st Separate Assault Regiment Dmytro Perun Filatov mentioned on the air of 24 Channel that Russia seeks to gain full control over Donbas due to the strategic importance of these territories, particularly water sources needed for the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

According to him, the coal seams in Donbas do not contain normal aquifers, and the rock from which coal is mined contains metals that pollute the water. Because of this, it is difficult to purify the water, and there are insufficient sources locally for the needs of the population and enterprises.

Filatov also emphasized that the occupied territory of Zaporizhia region critically needs water, which is an important element for agriculture. This need further motivates Russia to control these territories, as with the cessation of hostilities, local residents may begin to demand improved living conditions, which the occupiers cannot provide.

City of Pokrovsk - a battleground

Russia has concentrated over 100,000 soldiers near Pokrovsk, turning this place into the main goal of its winter campaign. Analysts note that capturing the city will not lead to a strategic breakthrough in the war.

According to Associated Press, Ukrainian and Russian forces have been engaged in prolonged battles for the city, even controlling individual residential buildings.

Pokrovsk has become not only a battlefield but also a major platform for influencing the international community: both sides are trying to convince Washington and the world of their successes on the battlefield.

The Ukrainian army reports attempts by Russia to gain full control over Donbas due to the strategic importance of water resources in the region. Russian troops have concentrated near Pokrovsk, turning it into the main target of their winter strategy, however, even capturing this city does not guarantee them a strategic advantage in the conflict.

Currently, the situation around Pokrovsk remains tense, and both sides are actively fighting for control over this territory. It is evident that water and natural resources play a key role in ensuring stability in the region, and the struggle for them will continue.
