Russia plans to change the narrative of the war: what is known about the Kremlin's peace plan.
According to ТСН: Russia is actively trying to change the information narrative of the war to avoid acknowledging its role as an aggressor and to present the conflict as a wider 'European war.'
Diplomat Valeriy Chaliy emphasized in an interview that the so-called 'peace plan' being discussed in the US is actually a development by the Kremlin.
'We know for sure that this 'peace plan' is a Russian development involving Ushakov, Putin's closest foreign policy advisor. Dmitriev is currently a courier and a link with the White House through Witkoff, and now more through Kushner, Trump's son-in-law. This is a Putin plan in its basic formulation,'he emphasized.
Chaliy noted that the document provided by the Kremlin to Trump is not a plan, but a set of demands that include Ukraine's renunciation of part of its territories, changes in domestic policy, and limits on sovereignty. He also pointed out that the current negotiating framework raises concerns due to the lack of clear positions.
'We are alarmed that we do not know what the current 'red lines' are. Publicly, they say that a plan is being created, where everyone agrees, everything seems to be going well. But this is surprising, as there is no realistic concept — no roadmap or set of points that could be implemented. After all, there are demands that contradict Ukrainian legislation: changes to the Constitution, NATO's renunciation of its own principles,'the diplomat noted.
Chaliy also pointed to Moscow's attempts to change the global perception of the conflict:
'Russia wanted to turn a war where it is the aggressor into a conflict in Europe being fought by 'different countries.' If this narrative changes, everything will change — from sanctions policy to China's position,'he emphasized.
The diplomat expressed concern over a possible decrease in US active involvement in the conflict:
'The worst thing would be for Donald Trump to not keep his hands clean and pull out of the game. Even if he steps back, the US must remain engaged: continue to provide weapons through Europe and maintain political support,'Chaliy added.
He emphasized that despite numerous traps laid by the Kremlin, the implementation of the Russian scenario is not guaranteed.
'The traps were very skillfully set, but they may not materialize. The main reason is that there are no European countries willing to take such steps,'the diplomat concluded.
It was previously reported that the current rounds of American pressure and bargaining regarding Ukraine have become the most serious of all previous ones, but the Kremlin will not be ready for real concessions until late winter.
It was also revealed that US President Donald Trump stated that he did not set deadlines for reaching a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia.
Thus, we see that diplomatic efforts around the conflict continue. Providing support to Ukraine from the US remains an important aspect, and the events of the coming weeks may significantly influence the further course of negotiations. It is important to monitor the situation's development, as all these steps may have serious consequences for the region.
