Russia refuses to evacuate its citizens from Kursk region, – spokesperson of the Military Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russia refuses to help its citizens who remain in the Kursk region. Because of this, residents of the Kursk region are turning to the Military Command of the Defense Forces for help. This was reported by the spokesperson of the Military Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Sudzha, Oleksiy Dmytrashkivskyi, during a TV marathon.
According to him, many people from different corners – from Russia, Belarus, France, and Poland – whose relatives remained in the Kursk region are now calling the command.
«They appealed to all possible institutions in the Russian Federation but received a refusal», – said Dmytrashkivskyi.
The spokesperson added that, according to one of the women, Russian institutions told her that the problems of those who are in the territory of the Kursk region controlled by Ukrainian soldiers are not their concern.
«Recently, a woman from Belarus called who said that she was told that people who stayed in that part of the territory of Russia controlled by the Armed Forces are not their problem, and they would not engage in evacuation», – said the spokesperson.
Own operation of the Armed Forces in the Kursk region
Recall that according to the former director of the Central Intelligence Agency, American General David Petraeus, the Kursk operation hit the authority of the Kremlin and demonstrated the weakness and incapacity of Russian forces. The Armed Forces of Ukraine deployed four brigades to the Kursk region, providing them with drones, air defense systems, and logistics, which, according to Petraeus, caught the Russians by surprise. The operation turned out to be unexpected even in the conditions of modern surveillance.
Earlier, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that although it is premature to assess the final outcomes of the Kursk operation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, some results are already evident. According to him, this operation has several important aspects, particularly raising the morale of Ukrainian soldiers and demonstrating the country's ability to advance. He mentioned this in an interview with The New Yorker. The head of state explained that Ukraine seeks to show its partners and the world that it is capable not only of defending but also of advancing. The operation also aims to prove what the Ukrainian army can achieve with proper resource provision. However, according to him, it is not only about military achievements.
Notably, in the Kursk region, the Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated the commander of a Russian Airborne Assault Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Oleksandr Kuryin, with the call sign «Skipper» using a drone.
