Drone attack in Russia: fires at oil refinery and nuclear power plant
On the night of January 29, explosions occurred in the city of Kstovo in the Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia as a result of a drone attack. According to preliminary data, the oil refinery was hit and caught fire. An attack was also carried out on the Smolensk nuclear power plant. This is reported by local Telegram channels.
It is noted that the fire broke out at the 'Lukoil - Nizhny Novgorodnefteorgsintez' oil refinery in Kstovo. This is the fourth largest oil refinery in Russia by production volume.
The governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin, stated in his Telegram that 'as a result of repelling the drone attack on the territory of one of the enterprises in the Kstovo industrial zone, drone fragments fell'.
'Firefighters are currently extinguishing the flames, and according to preliminary reports, there are no casualties', he added.
Moreover, according to local channels, attacks also occurred on the Smolensk nuclear power plant.
As reported by the regional governor Vasily Anokhin, one of the drones was shot down during an attack attempt on a nuclear energy facility. There are no casualties or destruction.
