Minibus Attacks in Kherson

According to TSN.ua: On March 11, Russian forces struck a minibus in Kherson, injuring ten people, one of whom was a teenager. Later that same day, Russian invaders launched another attack on a minibus in the Dnipro district of Kherson, completely destroying the vehicle. Kherson, a city in southern Ukraine, has endured frequent shelling since its liberation from Russian occupation in late 2022.

The victims of the initial attack included:

  • Women aged 49, 64, 58, 37, 45, and 57;
  • Men aged 41, 48, and 60.

At least one of the injured is in serious condition. This is not an isolated incident; on February 21, Russian occupiers also struck a minibus, injuring a 71-year-old driver and two women.

Threat to Civilians

Further endangering civilians, anti-personnel mines were discovered in March on Kostya Gordiyenko Street in Kherson. Commenting on the attacks, Oleksandr Prokudin stated:

“They saw who they were targeting and deliberately struck.” - Oleksandr Prokudin

These events underscore the persistent threat facing residents of the region amid the ongoing conflict.

The assaults on civilian transport in Kherson point to an escalation of violence in an area where residents face constant danger. The discovery of anti-personnel mines compounds the crisis by increasing risks for the civilian population. These incidents highlight the urgent need for international attention to civilian safety in conflict zones and emphasize the critical importance of protecting human rights during wartime.
