Russian troops shot Ukrainian defenders

Ukraine has once again witnessed the cruelty of Russian soldiers, who ruthlessly shot unarmed Ukrainian defenders. According to preliminary information, up to five soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were killed as they surrendered. The incident will be reported to the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross, stated Ukrainian ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets.

In a video released by the 110th separate mechanized brigade named after General Yevhen Bezruchko, the situation was shown where five Ukrainian soldiers found themselves in an ambush and were forced to surrender. However, this did not prevent Russian soldiers from making a ruthless attack that led to the death of these soldiers.

“Russian war criminals who shoot Ukrainian prisoners of war must stand before an international tribunal and face the severest punishment provided by law!”, – stated Dmytro Lubinets.

This is not the first case where Russians commit war crimes in Ukraine. Over three years of war, at least 177 cases of executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war have become known, most of which occurred in 2024. These types of incidents prompted the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada on human rights, Dmytro Lubinets, to state the necessity of holding Russian soldiers accountable internationally.

Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) have recorded an increase in cases of the execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war. They believe that this trend may be caused by orders or incentives from Russian commanders.
