Zaporizhzhia Targeted in Attack

According to TSN.ua: Russian forces launched a strike on Zaporizhzhia, damaging a heating network, residential building windows, and a kindergarten. Children and staff were sheltering at the time, so no casualties were reported. The attack was preceded by a ballistic missile threat alert, and explosions in the city caused localized power outages. Zaporizhzhia, a key city in southeastern Ukraine, has been a frequent target since the start of the full-scale invasion.

Consequences of the Strike

The attack left five apartment buildings without heating, and the blast wave shattered approximately 50 windows in residential buildings. The kindergarten building was also damaged, with windows blown out and interior spaces harmed. This assault follows a previous attack on Zaporizhzhia that damaged the city's critical infrastructure.

Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, confirmed that Russian troops attacked the Zaporizhzhia region on the night of February 6. The strike damaged private homes and left around 12,000 subscribers without electricity. Energy workers have warned residents of possible further localized blackouts in the region.

This bombardment reflects the continuation of Russia's aggressive actions against Ukraine, aimed at destroying civilian infrastructure and harming the population. Zaporizhzhia, repeatedly attacked, remains vulnerable to such strikes, creating additional hardships for local residents and services striving to maintain stability. These situations underscore the critical need for sustained international support and attention to civilian safety in wartime.
