Mykola Kozlov returned from captivity

According to inkorr.com: Recently Mykola Kozlov, one of the occupiers, was exchanged and returned from captivity on June 26 of this year. However, his relatives received no notification about this, and soon he found himself back on the front line. Just a month later, on July 24, Olena's sister received information about Mykola's disappearance. This became known thanks to the project 'Our Exit', reports 'Glavkom'.

“After returning to Russia, my brother was not even given the opportunity to call me,” Olena said. While Mykola was in captivity, it was still possible to communicate with him.

The military unit claims that “there is no information,” and the military commissariat was surprised when Olena told them that her brother had been exchanged: “This is unofficial information,” they replied upon learning that Mykola was on the list of those exchanged.

Motivation of the occupiers

Another occupier, Serhii, arrived from Russia to build a bathhouse for the military. This was reported by journalist Volodymyr Zolkin, noting that Russian soldiers who fall into captivity often avoid communication with Ukrainians out of fear.

Recently, a Russian occupier named Volodymyr from the Chelyabinsk region managed to be captured by the Armed Forces of Ukraine twice in less than a year.

This captured occupier told Ukrainian fighters that he joined the war due to a desire to get married and obtain Russian citizenship. Journalist and blogger 'Apostle', Dmytro Karpenko, who has conducted over a thousand and a half interviews with Russian prisoners, noted that the story of this soldier impressed him.

The information obtained by Ukrainian fighters about the motivation of the occupiers who end up in captivity indicates the complexity of the situation in the conflict zone in Donbas. The return of Mykola Kozlov and his subsequent fate highlight this complexity.
