Russian activist compared mobilization to Squid Game: what this analogy means.
According to inkorr.com: Anti-war activist from Russia Ivan Chuvilyaev compared the conscription of citizens to the events in the series 'Squid Game'. He noted that underprivileged people with debts who are eager to earn agree to take risky bets, but ultimately do not achieve the desired outcome. Chuvilyaev believes that the methods of recruiting citizens for the war against Ukraine are very similar to the plot of the series.
Ease of recruitment
Chuvilyaev also believes that contracts with the Ministry of Defense are made even in colonies and detention centers, simplifying the recruitment process. He cites the following quote:
“Stop a person on the street and shove a contract in their pocket. And there they can already be a contractor. Why pay for servicemen when you can get them for free from colonies and detention centers?”
Prisoners in the army
According to data from the 'Go to hell' project, prisoners are often recruited into the ranks of the Russian armed forces. Chuvilyaev emphasizes that many Russians do not want to serve in the army but become servicemen due to deception or coercion.
These statements highlight a serious problem of recruitment in the army that affects human destinies. The forcible involvement and exploitation of prisoners to replenish military ranks is an issue that causes outrage among many human rights organizations and the international community. The situation requires careful study and response as it touches on fundamental human rights.
