According to ТСН: Heavy snowfall and icy conditions have caused significant problems on the roads in various regions of Ukraine. Due to forecasts of worsening weather, restrictions have been introduced for freight transport in several regions.

This was reported by the press service of the State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety.

“Due to the deterioration of weather conditions (heavy snowfall, wind causing snowdrifts on the roadway), restrictions on the movement of freight vehicles have been introduced,” emphasized the State Transport Safety Service.

As of 14:15, restrictions on the movement of heavy and oversized transport are already in effect in several regions.

Rivne region

M-06 Kyiv-Chop road (to Budapest via Lviv, Mukachevo, and Uzhhorod) from km 152+480 to km 258+513 towards the Rivne region.

Lviv region

M-06 Kyiv-Chop road (to Budapest via Lviv, Mukachevo, and Uzhhorod) from km 432+877 (border of Rivne region) to km 487+000 (Busk) towards the Rivne region.

Volyn region

N-22 Ustyluh-Lutsk-Rivne road — from km 94+376 to km 130+070.

Olexiy Kuleba, the Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction, noted that the bad weather continues to move through Rivne, Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia, and Chernivtsi regions and will eventually reach Kyiv region.

“In Rivne region, movement is temporarily restricted for trucks on the M-06 road. Movement is also restricted on M-06 in Zhytomyr region towards Rivne. Additionally, movement may also be restricted in Lviv region towards Rivne on the M-06 road,” reported the Vice Prime Minister.

The situation on the roads on Thursday, January 8, was quite complicated: snowfall and icy conditions slowed down traffic. Videos surfaced online showing how traffic on the Lviv-Ternopil road has practically come to a halt due to traffic jams and accidents.

Forecasters predict that snowstorms and icy conditions may occur in the near future. The adverse weather conditions are caused by an active southern cyclone that is moving from Odesa through central regions to Sumy.

Dangerous weather phenomena can significantly affect road safety. Drivers are advised to be careful, adhere to traffic rules, and consider weather conditions during trips. Given the restrictions, plan your routes in advance and account for possible delays.
