Ukraine's Security Service Warns of New Recruitment Tactic: Fake Police and Blackmail.
Russian Intelligence Agencies Step Up Operations
According to TSN.ua: Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) reports that Russian intelligence agencies have intensified their efforts to recruit Ukrainian citizens. The operatives pose as law enforcement officials to coerce individuals into committing illegal acts. According to the SBU, these services are also using fake profiles on online dating platforms to harvest the personal data of Ukrainian citizens.
This recruitment process is frequently accompanied by blackmail. Citizens are threatened with criminal prosecution for alleged offenses such as 'purchasing medication from Russian websites,' placing significant pressure on potential victims. If successfully recruited, individuals are then forced to carry out arson, acts of terror, and sabotage, thereby endangering national security. This tactic exploits fear and confusion during a time of conflict.
Call for Public Vigilance
The Security Service of Ukraine urges citizens to exercise caution and not fall for provocations. Anyone who detects suspicious activity or recruitment attempts is encouraged to seek help through the following channels:
- The 'Expose an FSB Agent' chatbot (t.me/spaly_fsb_bot)
- Hotline: 0 800 501 482
- Email: [email protected]
Maintaining information security and being cautious in online communications can significantly reduce the risk of falling into a trap set by Russian intelligence. The ongoing war has made cybersecurity and personal vigilance more critical than ever for Ukrainians.
This situation underscores the importance of caution in the face of modern threats stemming from the activity of Russian special services. In the context of the protracted war, information security has become critically important, and Ukrainians should be especially vigilant with their personal data and online interactions. The Security Service of Ukraine continues to work actively to counter such threats, providing citizens with the necessary information on how to protect themselves from manipulation and blackmail.
