The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine demands the return of civilians
According to ТСН: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine calls on the Russian Federation to return the civilians who were taken from the border village of Hrabovske in the Sumy region.
This was reported by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on social media.
"With such medieval raids, Putin's Russia shows that it is no different from terrorist groups like ISIS, Boko Haram, or Hamas," he emphasized.
The head of the MFA emphasized the importance of bringing home the civilian hostages from Ukraine, including fifty individuals and thousands of others who were forcibly deported to Russia, among whom are also Ukrainian children.
"We call on all states and international organizations to join us in demanding the release of innocent civilians who have been kidnapped from their homes. This specific war crime is already being prosecuted in Ukraine and must receive an appropriate response at the international level as well. It also highlights the ongoing threat to life next to Russia. That is why Ukraine needs true, lasting peace. Living next to terrorists requires strength and reliable security guarantees," Sybiha concluded.
Moreover, it is noted that over 50 people were kidnapped by Russian troops in the village of Hrabovske in the Sumy region.
According to Ukrainian defenders, all these citizens had previously refused evacuation to safer regions of Ukraine despite calls from the authorities.
The publication "Kordon.Media" informs that people were taken to the territory of Russia for so-called filtration measures.
Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets emphasizes that such actions are violations of the laws and customs of war, as well as illegal deprivation of liberty and forced deportation of the civilian population.
The situation around the kidnapped civilians is causing outrage not only in Ukraine but also on the international stage. The demand for their return will be an important step toward ensuring human rights and restoring justice. Currently, most countries and international organizations are closely monitoring the developments, hoping for effective actions from the global community to address this issue.
