Russia launched a massive strike on Kyiv during Orbán's visit: reaction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to ТСН: The Russian Federation has once again launched a massive attack on Ukraine, using missiles and drones. This happened against the backdrop of discussions on peace plans.
Statement by the Minister of Foreign Affairs
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha shared his thoughts on the X platform, stating that:
“Russia continues to implement its 'military plan' of two points: to kill and to destroy.”
He also emphasized that Putin uses Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán as an accomplice to terror. Sybiha reminded of the attack on the children's hospital 'Okhmatdyt' in Kyiv, which occurred on July 8, 2024, when Orbán was in Moscow.
Parallels with previous events
“This time, Russia's massive assault on the capital of Ukraine occurred immediately after Orbán's visit and empty words about 'peace.' Putin simply uses such politicians as actors in his bloody play,” he stated.
Sybiha added that the Kremlin's 'fuhrer' seeks to continue a war he cannot win, and even refuses to end it at any cost. He called for increased support for Ukraine's defense, the introduction of new sanctions against Russia, and the full utilization of frozen Russian assets.
“Strength, unity, and pressure on Moscow remain important for advancing peace efforts and forcing Russia to cease the war,” he added.
Consequences of the latest attack
Let us remind you that during the latest massive attack, the Russian army struck the Kyiv region. The capital was attacked at night and in the morning. Drones initially attacked, and later the Russians launched missiles, including ballistic ones. Kyiv could also have been attacked by reactive drones.
As a result of the attacks, people died in two districts of Kyiv. It is known that there were two victims, and about 40 people were injured.
This attack has become another confirmation of the continuation of Russia's military aggression against Ukraine. The position of the Ukrainian authorities and the international community remains unchanged — it is necessary to intensify pressure on the aggressor and provide Ukraine with comprehensive support. Discussions on peace pathways cannot take place against the backdrop of military actions, therefore it is important for the global community to provide Ukraine with the necessary support for restoring peace on its territory.
