Ukrainian Defense Forces Strike Russian Icebreaker 'Purga' in Leningrad Region.
Operations Inside Russia Yield Results
According to TSN.ua: In a significant overnight operation on March 25, Ukraine's defense forces successfully targeted the Russian patrol icebreaker 'Purga' in the Leningrad region. This strike is part of a broader campaign aimed at crippling key enemy assets.
Just days earlier, on March 22–23, Ukrainian forces also carried out attacks on:
- The Transneft terminal at the Port of Primorsk;
- The Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim plant in Bashkortostan.
Those strikes damaged fuel storage tanks and oil-loading infrastructure at the Primorsk facility.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated: 'Ukraine's defense forces will continue to strike critical enemy targets, both in temporarily occupied Ukrainian territory and within the Russian Federation, until the armed aggression against Ukraine ceases completely.'
Conflict Intensifies
These successful operations on Russian soil mark an escalation in the conflict and reflect Ukraine's increasingly proactive strategic posture. Damaging vital infrastructure weakens the enemy's military capabilities. By continuing to hit Russian assets, Ukraine demonstrates its commitment to using offensive measures to counter aggression, which could reshape the war's trajectory and influence international responses.
