Air Defenses Down Drones Over Sumy, Striking Office and Residential Buildings.
Situation in Sumy
According to TSN.ua: Ukrainian air defense units successfully intercepted multiple Russian drones over the city of Sumy. Despite these efforts, falling debris from the downed aircraft struck an office building in the city center and, about an hour later, a residential building. A significant number of drones were shot down during the evening attack. This type of attack, using low-cost drones to overwhelm defenses, has become a frequent tactic in the conflict.
Emergency services are on the scene investigating the areas. Preliminary reports indicate there were no casualties. Throughout the day, rescue teams worked to neutralize the explosive warheads from drones that had landed in the area. Local authorities have urged residents to remain cautious and avoid approaching any suspicious objects.
Situation in the Kyiv Region
Separately, Russian drones were also reported in the Kyiv region during the night of March 7. The situation remains tense, with local authorities continuing to implement security measures to protect the population.
These incidents occur against a backdrop of intensified military action across Ukraine, highlighting Russia's increased reliance on drone warfare. While Ukrainian air defenses have achieved notable successes, attacks on civilian infrastructure continue to pose a serious threat to public safety. Officials are urging citizens to exercise caution and follow official security updates.
