The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the United States is very surprised and considers it unacceptable that Ukrainian soldiers in Donetsk captured two citizens of China. He added that he has already instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to address this issue.

The President also reported that Ukrainian special services identified 155 citizens of China who are participating in hostilities on the side of the Russian army against Ukraine. Zelensky emphasized that the Chinese authorities are aware of this recruitment. He also mentioned that the preparation of Chinese citizens for combat actions lasts 1-2 months in training centers on the territory of Russia.

Intelligence agencies are determining the motivation of Chinese citizens

Zelensky stated that there is currently no answer regarding the motivation of Chinese citizens. He said that the Security Service of Ukraine will work on this. The President emphasized that China knows about its citizens traveling to Ukraine, but there is no information on the order for this movement. Zelensky also noted that the motivation of these people, whether it is related to money or politics, is currently unknown, but it will be studied.

The President reported that two citizens of China who fought in the Russian army were captured by Ukrainian soldiers in Donetsk. He instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs to contact Beijing and clarify how China plans to respond to this.
