Lawsuit
The volunteer in Odesa filmed a video about a raccoon being kept in a contact zoo. According to her, the animal is in poor conditions and needs a veterinary examination due to an injured limb.
Zoo representatives claim that the published footage contains false information about the conditions in which the animal is kept. The management of the establishment demands the removal of the video and the filming of a new one with an agreed text, otherwise they threaten with a lawsuit.
Scandal with the raccoon at the zoo
Volunteers noticed the raccoon with a bald paw and almost no fur. A zoo employee said that the animal is in depression. After observations, activists found that the raccoon's condition is deteriorating.
Possible causes could include skin diseases, stress, or lichen, which may lead to fur loss.
The volunteers also noted that the raccoon does not have access to natural light. One organization is ready to take the animal for treatment, but has not yet received permission from the zoo.
On August 2, a rally took place near the shopping center where the sick animal is located, demanding that the raccoon be transferred. However, their demands went unanswered.
