Scandal at UCU over lecturer's post about the priest: what is happening.
According to inkorr.com: A scandal has erupted at the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) due to the publications of Doctor of Philosophy Yuriy Pidlisny in social networks, where he mentions the 'death of the priest' Nazariy Zatorsky. Pidlisny also published a photo of the priest sitting on a bench painted in the colors of the LGBT flag.
Opinion of Priest Zatorsky
Priest Zatorsky, a representative of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, believes that this incident vividly demonstrated the true face of UCU and the UGCC, which adhere to conservative views capable of alienating many Christian intellectuals. He also noted that after the incident with the student who was denied accommodation due to the LGBT flag, more than 15 people received refusals without clear reasons.
‘Ukrainian Catholic University, are you okay with such antics from your lecturer? Is this the kind of Christian love and morality that Mr. Yuriy Pidlisny preaches? With such lecturers, it is no surprise that the scandal with Paraska Kurochkina occurred. It is very strange that a similar scandal did not erupt earlier,’ commented Priest Zatorsky.
Reaction to the incident
UCU has found itself in the public spotlight due to this conflict, which has caused outrage and division of opinion among students and faculty. The situation raises questions about freedom of speech and inclusivity in educational institutions, as well as the role of universities in shaping societal views.
