How many parishes of the Moscow church have joined the OCU? Chernihiv region lags behind.

According to the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, after the adoption of the law prohibiting the Moscow church, only two religious communities in Chernihiv region joined the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This is reported on the 'Glavkom' website.

According to 'Glavkom', out of 542 communities associated with the Moscow Patriarchate, only two have joined the UOC/OCU after the law was adopted.

It is reminded that nine months have passed since the adoption of the law. This period allowed religious communities the opportunity to voluntarily sever ties with Russia. There are only a few weeks left, but so far almost no one has taken advantage of this opportunity. Most communities of the Moscow Patriarchate (over 90%) have not re-registered their statutes and have not complied with the legal requirements.

Earlier it was reported that in the last two years, 22 communities of the Moscow Patriarchate joined the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the Zhytomyr region. There are 584 communities remaining in the UOC MP.

Also, in the Lviv region, three communities of the Moscow Patriarchate joined the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the last year, while in the Zaporizhzhia region, no one has joined.

In the Khmelnytskyi region, from August 2024, 20 out of 629 communities have joined the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Currently, there are no communities of the Moscow Patriarchate in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
