Death of a 10-Year-Old Boy in Vinnytsia: What Really Happened to His Mother.
Circumstances Surrounding the Death of a 10-Year-Old Boy in Vinnytsia Region
According to ТСН: The mother of a 10-year-old boy who died of starvation in the Vinnytsia region did not abuse alcohol or use drugs. She had a third-degree disability and was unable to take care of her son.
The village head of Serebriiia in the Mohyliv-Podilskyi community, Natalia Todorchuk, noted that the woman's parents were taking care of her and the child. However, after the boy's grandmother passed away in May, difficulties arose in the family.
“Her parents [the boy's mother] did not teach her to manage a household or handle money properly. She did not know how to do it because her parents did everything for her while they were alive. They did not teach her to live independently in society with a child,”Todorchuk said.
She also reported that the boy was sick and had a disability. Due to health problems, he walked poorly and did not attend school. The mother received a wheelchair and promised to take the child to school, but she did not do so.
Natalia Todorchuk did not evaluate the work of social services, as she did not participate in the relevant commission meetings and is unaware of their recommendations.
“From our side, we did what we could. I know that our family doctor often visited her until he was mobilized,”she added.
The village head also emphasized that medical laboratory technicians visited the woman for tests, and recently she was in the hospital with her child, including in Vinnytsia.
It is worth noting that the Attorney General Ruslan Kravchenko reported the death of the 10-year-old boy in Vinnytsia. According to him, the boy had not received food for at least two months.
The mother of the child was detained, and charges have been brought against her. A motion for her to be held in custody has been submitted to the court.
This tragedy highlights serious social issues that can arise in communities where support for vulnerable families is inadequate. The boy's death raises questions about the effectiveness of the social security system and medical services, as well as the need to educate parents on childcare skills, especially in difficult conditions. It is important that such cases prompt a reevaluation of support mechanisms in similar situations.
