Veterinarian Warned About the Deadly Danger of Paracetamol for Cats.
According to ТСН: Australian veterinarian Lisa Chimes, known for programs such as Bondi Vet, shared important advice for cat owners. She emphasized that giving medications intended for humans to cats is strictly prohibited.
Sad Case Involving a Cat
Lisa Chimes recalled her worst case from practice. This happened when a cat was given a paracetamol tablet. The owner tried to help the animal, but it led to its death.
“One of the worst medical emergencies I have ever seen in a cat was when this cat turned blue with swollen lips. It was hard for her to breathe. She was gasping for air. It was horrific,” said the veterinarian.
Chimes also stressed that paracetamol is one of the most toxic substances for cats. She urged: 'So if your cat is injured or looks unwell, please do not give her any human medications. Instead, consult your local veterinarian or an emergency department and take your cat there for examination.'
Veterinarians also advise against treating animals with medications not intended for them.
Let’s remind you of the seven signals that cats use to warn of trouble.
Thus, Lisa Chimes' recommendations serve as an important reminder about the safety of our beloved pets. Never experiment with human medications, and in case of health issues with your cat, it is better to consult professionals. This will help save the lives of animals and prevent tragic outcomes.
