Social benefits for combatants in Ukraine
In Ukraine, combatants and their family members are entitled to over two dozen social benefits and guarantees provided by the state. These benefits are enshrined in the Law of Ukraine 'On the status of war veterans, guarantees of their social protection' and relate to medical, transport, housing, educational, and other areas.
Main benefits
- Discounts on utility services (75% on rent, water, electricity, gas);
- Free travel on city and suburban transport;
- Free medical services;
- Examinations and dental prosthetics at the expense of the state.
Additional privileges
Combatants can claim priority access to housing, additional vacation and pay, and preference in employment in case of staff reduction or business liquidation. In addition, they receive a one-time financial aid each year.
Support in education
Combatants and their children are entitled to free or partially paid education, receiving scholarships and other benefits for obtaining education.
Thus, the government provides a wide range of social measures for combatants and their families to support and recognize their contribution to the defense of the country.
