The USA may resume nuclear testing: what is known about Trump's decision.
According to inkorr.com: Senior US officials responsible for the nuclear arsenal are planning a meeting with White House representatives to emphasize the importance of abandoning the resumption of nuclear tests related to the detonation of nuclear weapons. This was reported by CNN via 'Glavcom'.
Participants of the meeting
Energy Secretary Chris Wright and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) head Brandon Williams will participate in the negotiations. They aim to convince the White House to adhere to a realistic approach without detonating nuclear materials.
CNN notes that US President Donald Trump may still order testing, but federal officials hope to change this decision.
The situation with nuclear testing
Trump has previously emphasized that the USA is the only country not conducting nuclear tests and instructed the Pentagon to begin testing nuclear weapons to avoid being the only one in this decision. However, this could negatively impact his chances of receiving the Nobel Peace Prize and lead to escalating conflict, according to The Washington Post.
Russia expects official clarifications from the USA following Trump's statements about the possible resumption of nuclear testing, - said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
The meeting of US officials with White House representatives regarding the abandonment of nuclear tests indicates a serious attitude towards this issue and a desire to find a compromise in the interest of maintaining world peace.
