According to ТСН: On the night of December 20, Russian troops invaded the border village of Hrabovske, abducting 50 civilians from there. Amid ongoing hostilities, the demand for evacuation has increased due to the escalation of the security situation in the Krasnopil community in the Sumy region.

Illegal abduction of people

On December 18, servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces detained about 50 peaceful residents of Hrabovske, holding them without communication. On December 20, the people were forcibly taken to Russia for filtration procedures. Journalists also report further movement of Russian units towards the Vysokyi outpost and the Riasne village. Co-founder of the analytical project DeepState Ruslan Mykula confirmed the activation of Russian troops in Hrabovske.

Defense Forces suggest that Russians are preparing a provocation, not a breakthrough

The fact of crossing the border and the capture of the settlement was confirmed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The crossing of the state border by the Russian troops near Hrabovske and the abduction of over 50 civilians to the Russian Federation are signs of a local provocation. The head of the communication department of the Joint Forces group, Viktor Trehubov, noted that currently, Russian activity is not at its peak, and it does not appear to be an attempt at a large operation. According to him, the abduction of people has become part of this provocation, possibly for political or informational pressure.

Ukraine's reaction

Ukraine demands that Russia return the 50 people who were taken from the Sumy region. Lubinets emphasized the need for a law on forced evacuation, especially of children, from dangerous territories.

Evacuation

Due to the escalation of the situation, local authorities are urging residents of border areas not to refuse evacuation. According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, more than 30,000 people have already been evacuated from dangerous areas. However, about 5,700 residents, including 38 children, have not yet agreed to leave the frontline zone. Oleg Gryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional State Administration, reported that some residents who were reluctant to leave their homes were evacuated by armored transport. Currently, the evacuated people are in a transit center, where they receive support and assistance.

Situation in Sumy region

In the Sumy region, Russian occupation forces continue active attacks. RF infantry groups are trying to move under worsening weather conditions. At the end of November, 15 Russian infantrymen crossed the Ukrainian border, but they were stopped by Ukrainian paratroopers. Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian army Oleksandr Syrskyi noted that the situation in the northern part of the region is stable, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine are holding their positions and inflicting significant losses on the Russian troops.

The situation in border communities remains tense, as Russian troops are trying to intensify their actions in this direction. The Ukrainian authorities are making all efforts to ensure the safety of the civilian population and organize their evacuation. Despite the difficulties, local residents continue to remain resilient in these challenging conditions.
