Kirill Budanov's Forecast: Ukraine expects a better 2025
The head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kirill Budanov predicts that Ukraine will have a better year in 2025. He made this statement during a telethon on December 31, in response to a journalist's question.
Budanov noted that a year ago he asked himself a similar question and answered that 2024 would be difficult. But regarding the next year, he believes in a lot of optimism.
According to the intelligence chief, Russia may continue the war, but if it does not come to its senses by mid-2025, it will have to make difficult decisions related to financial and economic systems.
Are they ready for this? Maybe they are. Do they want this? I can say with a hundred percent certainty, no. Therefore, they will do everything to prevent this.
Budanov emphasized that although there are currently no signs of changes in the mood of Russian society, that does not mean it will not happen in the future.
Budanov's forecasts raise certain concerns among Ukrainian and global media, who are confident that the war in Ukraine will end in 2025. But this belief may relax society and lead to losses of state and independence.
The British newspaper Financial Times also predicts a peace treaty between Ukraine and Russia in 2025. According to this forecast, achieving peace requires strengthening sanctions and support for Kyiv from the USA, and Zelensky's response could be the acceptance of a factual rather than a legal recognition of Russia's control over the occupied territories.
