The Times: British instructors may start training Ukrainian soldiers in the west of the country.
The United Kingdom is considering the possibility of training Ukrainian soldiers with military instructors, reports The Times, citing sources in the UK Ministry of Defense.
According to the publication, British military leadership is considering a plan to send small groups of instructors to western Ukraine for rapid training of recruits. This could help solve logistical problems associated with relocating Ukrainian military personnel to bases in the UK and reduce costs.
"There we could conduct training more quickly, and it would be far from the front line, in isolated locations, so the risk would be much less," said representatives of the British defense department.
A Ukrainian military source noted that transferring the training to Ukrainian territory would be a "powerful military-political signal" to other countries, including Russia.
Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in London. Plans for victory and further support for Ukraine were discussed during the meeting.
Zelensky expressed gratitude to the UK for continuous defense assistance, particularly in providing long-range weapons. He also emphasized the necessity of obtaining permission for strikes deep into Russian territory.
Keir Starmer stated further support for Ukraine from the UK: "It is very important that we can demonstrate our unwavering support to Ukraine. This is an important fight for you and for all of us."
