On the night of December 25, around 23:50, on the road between the villages of Rachky and Ratusha, located in the territory of Bila Tserkva, an accident involving a passenger car occurred.
According to preliminary data, a 27-year-old driver of a Skoda Octavia lost control on a turn, veered onto the left shoulder, crashed into a power pole, and the car overturned.
Unfortunately, as a result of this incident, a 52-year-old passenger sustained injuries incompatible with life.
During a check, the driver was found to have 1.92 promille of alcohol in his blood, which exceeds the allowable limit by 9.6 times. The driver was detained and placed in a temporary holding facility.
Note: The allowable blood alcohol content for a person driving a vehicle is 0.2 promille. For understanding, 1‰ is a thousandth part of anything, that is, promille is like a percentage, only 10 times less (thus, 1% is 10‰).
Investigators from the Kyiv region have initiated a pre-trial investigation into the violation of traffic rules or the operation of a vehicle by a person driving under the influence of alcohol, if it led to the death of the victim (part 3 of article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Recently, several tragic incidents have occurred on the roads in Kyiv region, in particular, recently a SUV crashed into a truck, a child was killed. These events underscore the importance of adhering to traffic rules and the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol.
