The Tragedy in Colorado Springs

In February 2007, the Four Continents Figure Skating Championships were held in Colorado Springs. From Canada, Jessica Dube and Bryce Davison performed as a pair.

During a synchronized spin, Davison's skate blade sliced Dube's cheek and nose. The girl had to be hospitalized, and 83 stitches were required. The figure skater was lucky that her eye and bones were unharmed.

Jessica and Bryce underwent therapy for post-traumatic stress after that.

In 2011, Dube switched partners to Sebastien Wolfe, winning silver at the 2012 World Championships, but she ended her career in 2013 due to a foot injury.

After 18 years, the video was uploaded to social media and garnered 6 million views within a few hours. It has now collected 23 million views.

Dube is currently working as a coach, and the scar that remains on her face she calls a symbol of resilience.
